 mais um grand clássico

Jeroen Verheij aka Secret Cinema started producing as Meng Syndicate in 1990. His first record ‘Sonar System’ came out on the Hithouse label in Belgium (ARS). Soon it became a big clubhit and through remixes by Speedy J aka Pullover the record became all the more successful. Because of the unfortunate death of Peter Slaghuis, the man behind the Hithouse project, the co-operation with ARS did not work out to Jeroen’s satisfaction.

In 1993, after having experimented with sound samples and melodies for three years, DJ Michel de Hey, who recognized Jeroen’s excellent producing skills, convinced him to release his music on Michel’s Immaculate Music record labels. The first record Night On Earth ‘My Brain’ was released in 1994 on the new innovative techno label Brave New World Records. Secret Cinema ‘Timeless Altitude’ released on EC Records got to the Belgium Top-30 and after that the first Grooveyard success followed. After getting amazing crowd response to the Grooveyard acetate, Michel decided to release ‘Watch Me Now’ in November 1994. While creating it Jeroen was inspired by funk heroes such as Curtis Mayfield and The Jimmy Castor Bunch. The record became an enormous clubhit in the Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain and Japan. Grooveyard ‘Mary Go Wild’ appeared in 1997 and it hit no. 12 of the Dutch Top 40 Charts and a few months later it was also put out in Scandinavia, Spain and Belgium. For ‘Mary Go Wild’ Jeroen Verheij received two Update Dance Awards, for Best Dutch Producer and Best Dutch single of 1997. ‘Masculinity’, the follow-up for Secret Cinema, delivered him another two dance awards in 1998.

Jeroen has been playing live since 1993, but when Secret Cinema\\\'s ‘Volt!’ came out in 2000, it was the start of Jeroen\\\'s new and restyled energetic live set. A more techno-orientated Secret Cinema only set, different from his former live-sets, which combined Grooveyard and Secret Cinema songs. After that, Jeroen released his first album in 2001 under the name of Secret Cinema, "White Men Can\\\'t Funk".

Further he is busy co-producing. The theme for Rotterdam\\\'s Heineken Fast Forward Dance Parade \\\'Let the Music be your Guide\\\', created in co-operation with Michel de Hey, hit the Dutch Top 40 Charts again. Other jointed projects are Secret Cinema vs. Private Productions, with Robert Kroos, Hidden Rivals and Special Request in co-operation with Mirko ‘Miracle’ van Dommelen, Starchild in co-operation with Zki, the man behind ‘the Goodman’ and the recent successful collaboration Michel de Hey vs. Grooveyard.

The year 2001 saw the international breakthrough for Secret Cinema with the release of SC002,
a very techno orientated project extracted from his live-set including the track \\\'Carton Clip\\\',
his album \\\'White Men Can\\\'t Funk\\\' and subsequently his debut live performances in Ireland, Italy and Japan(WIRE festival 2001).

Jeroen also produces music for films. After making the music and sound effects for \\\' Barcode \\\', a film by Lokman , he is busy doing the same for Lokman\\\'s new film, \\\' Shredder \\\'. In 2003 Universal releases the barcode DVD video project which contains a 90 minute mix from Secret Cinema tracks, combined with video footage by VJ Finister.
A mind-blowing experience!

Further development into the Secret Cinema project has made the new album ‘Skunk&Espresso’ a favourite amongst all the ‘big name’ DJ’s around the world, from house to techno, from minimal to trance.
The album consists of 3 vinyl’s and a mixed CD, all written and produced by Jeroen Verheij.

Most of the tracks were already a part of SC’s live set and are therefore tested and played for crowds worldwide,
including the successful performance at Wire2005 Japan and the closing set on main stage at Awakenings, Holland’s biggest techno festival.

Starting the new album tour in Japan, the 3rd of March 2006, where Jeroen will play in Tokyo and Osaka, a long list of other bookings have already been confirmed.
As his live set has never been the same twice, Jeroen continues his quest for a better performance every week. Be sure to check it out, when he plays in a theater near you soon…

uma musica antiguinah do inicio da decada de 90 um som tremendo :D

Praga Khan (aka Maurice Engelen)

For more then a decade, Praga Khan has moved dancefloors all over the world, first as a DJ, and later as an artist. First in a long series of singles was 'Rave alarm', released in 1991, followed by the smash hit 'Injected with a Poison'. This single was in the UK charts for six weeks and number one in the top 10 Billboard Dance chart in Japan.

Meanwhile Praga Khan and his "partner in crime" Oliver Adams started up a second project, "Lords of Acid". Their debut album "Lust" was released in 1992. Still today, Lords of Acid remains Praga's favourite side project, benefiting from a huge followup in the States with high record sales and a bunch of sold-out tours all across the country.

In 1994 Carl S. Johansen joins the team. They signed a major record deal with Rick Rubin's American Recordings for the US territory.

Meanwhile, Hollywood started to get aware of their songwritership. After the music they scored in 'Basic Instinct', they were asked to write music for several box office successes such as 'Sliver', 'Bad Lieutenant', 'Strange Days', 'The Spy who Shagged Me' and many more. They even wrote a full album under the name The Immortals for the then #1 video game Mortal Kombat.

As remixers Praga Khan and his team were also very demanded and they achieved remixes for people as various as Jean-Michel Jarre, White Zombie, Alice in Chains, Gravity Kills and more.

In 1998 Praga Khan releases "Pragamatic". After years of success abroad, this album marks the beginning of huge following in their home country. The Praga Khan live set becomes more and more legendary, and twice in a row, they win Belgian music station TMF's "Best Live Act" award. During the summer of 99 Praga Khan performed at some of Europe's biggest festivals, such as Werchter (Belgium), Glastonbury (UK), Bizarre (Germany).

Beginning of 2004 Praga Khan is the first band to sign on the brandnew Stella Artois Music-label. "Electric Religion" consolidates the bands reputation in the alternative dance scene. While singles such as "Supermodel" or "2.0.0.4.(Life)" may sound familiar to someone who knows the band, the album contains a surprisingly wide variation of moods, including beautiful slower songs ("Hollywood", "Mistress of Dreams"Š)

Fall 2004 Praga Khan will introduce "The Next Dimension", an ambitious theatre tour, in which they will create a platform for the many artforms the band has been connected to over the years. The music of Praga Khan, performed live, in specially adapted versions, many of them with classical arrangements, will be the spine of a spectacular perfomance, integrating video-art, ballet, fashion, painting, performing arts and more.

mais uma boa malha ;)

Green Velvet (aka Cajmere) studied chemical engineering at the University of Illinois, where he exposed himself to the energetic culture and lifestyle of house. In 1991, midway though graduate school, Cajmere returned to Chicago to pursue his dream of producing house music.

In 1992, after surviving on cheese sandwiches and maximizing credit limits, Cajmere finally made an imprint on the dance community with his infectious experiment, "Coffee Pot" (It's Time for the Percolator) Clubhouse Records. Then he moved on to more complex musical and lyrical arrangements with songs like Lidell Townsell's "Get With U" (Mercury Records).

The Cajmere and Dajae collaboration resulted in a #2 Billboard Dance Chart and International dance hit - "Brighter Days". It was at this point that Cajmere decided to start Cajual Records. Having his own label gave Cajmere the autonomy to attain his goal of developing a sound that was representative of Chicago - thus, putting Chicago back on the map.

In 1993 Cajmere created Relief Records. The label became an outlet for he and other producers' more track-oriented work.

(Green Velvet)

The Relief label also gave birth to the experimental and eccentric, afro wig-wearing entity we know as Green Velvet - a Cajmere alter ego.

Green Velvet produced the first release on the Relief label, "Preacher Man." He followed up the debut release with "Flash" and "The Stalker", both of which brought about unexpected praise and worldwide recognition.

In 1997, Green Velvet's attempt to combine 80s electronic funk with Chicago's cult of a perfect track led to his creation, "Answering Machine" - with the more humorous but rather contagious hook - "I don't need this shit!" For 1999 Green Velvet has crafted "Constant Chaos", an electronic trip over a lyrical landscape or as Green Velvet muses in a recent Muzik interview, "I guess it's sorta like folk music for the rave scene."
